"I have a dream."

This is a part of speech made by a black man, Martin Luther King, in the summer of 1963. His speech moved a lot of people all over the world. the sentence sounds normal. I have a dream too and having a dream is not a special thing. However his dream was not the same kind of mine. His dream was not only for himself. His dream was for all the black people. He wanted America to be a peace country where blacks and whites would be equal and live together. We can say that he is definitely one of the great people. He was one of the great people who was influenced by Gandhi.

He was born on January 15th in Atlanta, Georgia and racial segregation was always beside him. At that time, black people did not have the same right as white people in South of America. When black people ride on a bus, they have to sit in the back. Black people couldn't eat at most restaurants. Black people went to different school from white people.

He always wanted to break the color barrier and After he get married to a woman from the South in 1953, he worked to end segregation with his wife for the rest of his life. He worked in the belief of non-violence. It was originally Gandhi's idea. His movement changed some laws about color segregation. Above all, "The march on Washington" was a big one. In this protest, he made the famous speech in front of the statue of Abraham Lincoln. He became famous worldwide and he won the Nobel Prize for his civil rights work in 1964. Since then a lot of black people fought to end the segregation.

I'm sure it was not easy to change a big society if you are a minority. However, Martin Ruther King pulled off the extraordinary thing with the belief of no-violence. I learned that having a firm belief is important to achieve something difficult.
