As we know, in countries with a democratic system of government, Every single person has chance to have a say. Then how can we have a say? This book introduces you some ways to have a say.
One easy way is to write a letter to a newspaper or to a politician. There is a section called "Letters to the editor" on newspapers and some letters from readers are published in the newspapers. Writing an e-mail is also simple and convenient.
More powerful ways are conducting political opinion polls and holding protests. One individual say might not be able to change politicians' minds but when the people who have same opinion get together, their say becomes powerful.
Not only individuals but also companies and organisations have their say by lobbying and putting pressure using media or stopping contributing funds to political parties.
Even though Japan is a democratic country, It seems that Japanese people, including me, don't convey their say to government in a positive manner. I think that's because a lot of people aren't interested in politics and don't know it very well. I'm one of them and I should study about Japan's politics more.
