BR2-10 Oliver Twist Penguin Readers

The story is about a boy named Oliver Twist. He was born at a workhouse. After giving birth Oliver, his mother died. She was a stranger there. Nobody knew where she was from so Oliver had nowhere to go and worked at the workhouse like a slave. He was sent a coffin shop for work because he asked more meal. He ran away to London because of a mean owner’s wife and a senior servant.

On the way to London, he met thieves and they brought over Oliver. They let Oliver commit a theft but he was arrested. He was released because he was just watching what the other thieves do. He was given protection from a man who was stolen his handkerchief from the thieves. The man, Mr. Brownlow, was a gentleman so Oliver got a better life.

But it didn’t last long. The thieves got Oliver back. They tried to make him burgle a house. But when he entered the house he was shot. The other thieves tried to carry him but they abandoned Oliver on the field. He walked to the nearest house for help with all his rest power. The house was the one which Oliver tried to burgle. The ladies, Mrs. Maylie and Mrs. Rose, at the house knew that but they took care of Oliver well. He got a better life again.

But a strange man appeared in front of him and tried to get Oliver back to the thieves. Actually, the stranger named Monks was Oliver’s half brother and he came to kill Oliver because he didn’t want to give the half of their father’s inheritance.

With Mr. Brownlow and Two Ladies help, Oliver got the inheritance and lived happily with Mr. Brownlow as his son ever after.

The best part was that Mr. Brownlow and the two ladies help Oliver for nothing. And I realized that kids can be bad if adults raise them in a bad way and it’s not kids' fault to be bad. Kids believe that it’s right whatever adults do. Or they are too weak to oppose adults. Kids have rights to live happily. I’m worried if there are children like ones in the story in poor countries in the real world. If there are, we have to think of the way to save the children.
